MILO is a toy with unlimited potential, the activities and learning opportunities are endless. The toys for MILO's pockets were carefully chosen not only to reflect the skills for each intelligence, but to encourage growth.
MILO's toys and activities are found in colorful bags that correspond to MILO's pockets. The bags fit easily into MILO's backpack. Also included in the backpack are activity cards with suggestions for play strategies and learning opportunities. MILO's backpack makes clean-up and travel a breeze!
These are suggested starting points and tips for MILO that you might find helpful:
Tip 1: Look through all of the bags, activities, and books. Become familiar with everything before introducing MILO and his kit to a child. This will help you to find and retrieve a toy that the child requests quickly.
Tip 2: Try not to let your child retrieve the toys from the backpack on their own. That would be a lost opportunity for making an intentional choice and a missed opportunity for communication. Keep directing them to MILO's pockets to make a choice.
Tip 3: If your child is interested in books and can sit and listen to a story for 1-2 minutes, we suggest you start with the book "Playtime With MILO" (Word Smart activity). This is a great introduction to MILO.
Tip 4: If your child has not yet developed an attention for books, we suggest you model looking at all the pictures in MILO's pockets, then model making a playtime choice.
Tip 5: Find a comfortable space on the floor, cleared of objects and other toys, and start playing!
